Don't forget to fulfill your year's resolutions
February 08 2024 – Melissa Alvarez
Are you in February and you still don't have your year's resolutions? Or have you already forgotten about them and are not following a path to fulfill them?
According to a study from the University of Pennsylvania Scranton, only 8% of people who set goals or objectives meet them, while 92% fail to meet them.
For you to be one of the percentage that manages to meet your goals, first of all it is very important that you write them down, put them on paper or in notes . Don't just have them in your head. Also use the SMART methodology to achieve them.
The SMART methodology is a planning tool used to achieve objectives and goals.
S. SPECIFIC. Set a specific goal. Avoid vague and generic goals. Instead of saying I want to get in shape and lose fat, you have to be more specific. For example, “I want to lose 5 kg of body fat and gain 2 kg of muscle”
M. MEASURABLE: Measurable. Establish indicators that allow you to measure progress and determine if you have reached your goal. For example, if your goal is to save money, define a specific amount you want to save each month, you could save 10% of your monthly income.
A. ACHIEVABLE. Reachable. Make sure your goals are realistic and achievable based on your circumstances and available resources. Evaluate your skills and resources to determine if you can achieve what you set out to do.
R. RELEVANT. Relevant. Make sure your goals are aligned with your personal values, interests and aspirations. If your goals have no relevance to you, you are less likely to commit to them in the long term.
T. TIME. Time. Set a deadline or deadline to achieve your goals. This will help you stay focused and work on them consistently. For example, set specific dates for each milestone you want to achieve during the year. You can see it by quarter, quarter or semester; This way you can divide your purposes by stages and moments of your year.
And it is also important to add to this SMART methodology, celebrate your achievements. Celebrating the achievements you have during the year will help you stay positive and motivated. And it is also totally valid to review and adjust your goals. That is, if you are already halfway through the year and new opportunities arrive or circumstances change, it is worth adjusting your goals.
Remember that commitment and perseverance are key to achieving your goals.
Trust yourself and keep a positive mindset!
